Spread across 14 hectares, the campus hosts around 250 companies and provides jobs for approximately 5,000 people. In total, there are as many as 15,000 active access licenses in circulation.

The campus not only brings together technology companies, but also supporting organisations active in areas such as HR and communication. The Corda Campus team strongly focuses on services and community building for all these companies.

“Our goal is to take as much work off our tenants’ hands as possible,” says Hannelore Smeets, Facility & Service Coordinator at Corda Campus. “They should be able to focus on their core business, while we make sure everything around them runs smoothly and safely. Access management plays a key role in that.”

With a relatively small team of 18 employees supporting all operations, efficiency is essential.

The growth and dynamic nature of Corda Campus created a clear challenge. With thousands of users, hundreds of companies, and different access needs, it became increasingly difficult to maintain an overview.

The system also takes into account the specific needs of different companies on campus. “We can manage a lot ourselves,” Hannelore explains. “Adjust configurations, set things up… and if we ever need help, we can always rely on fast support.”

Companies such as Luminus, Siemens, and Cegeka each have their own way of working, yet they are all integrated into the central platform. Badges serve as the practical key: simple, reliable, and widely usable.

“We also tested other technologies, like facial or palm recognition,” she adds. “But in the end, badges remain the most practical and user-friendly option.”

More control, less complexity

The impact is clearly noticeable. Where access management used to be fragmented, it is now fully centralised and largely automated.

“We now have a clear view at all times of who can access which areas,” says Hannelore. “This not only improves security but also brings peace of mind to the organisation.”

Access rights are assigned and updated automatically, without manual intervention. Any irregularities are immediately flagged, allowing quick action when needed.

Ready for the future: moving to the cloud

To keep the system future-proof, Corda Campus also moved to the cloud.

“We used to work with our own server, but it was becoming outdated,” Hannelore explains. “Synguard suggested migrating to the cloud, which made perfect sense for us: less maintenance and lower costs.”

The transition went smoothly. “The migration was completed in less than a day, and our tenants didn’t notice a thing. That says a lot about how well the process was managed.”
